Description
“‘Cosmic Dust’, the second album from psychobilly girl-group legends The Eyelids, continues to take garage-blues-punk inspiration from the Cramps, PJ Harvey and The Slits, adding a widescreen lyrical range which trawls at the edges of the seaside condition – postpartum existential angst, cautionary tales for crabs, cannibalism on the ocean, tricksters, conmen, monsters, emotional vampires and whatever else washes up on their shores. The Eyelids coerced erstwhile producer and neighbour Julian Gaskell (Ragged Trousered Philanthropists) into recording the album in an industrial unit in Penryn, the location bringing a raw and edgy ambience to their new songs, with theremin, organ and maracas adding to the already potent brew.”
